This week the biggest news in the world of Magic finance is that a big chunk of the upcoming Phyrexia: All Will Be One set leaked or at the very least was spoiled unintentionally. Apparently a bunch of cards from the set were accidentally inserted into Dominaria Remastered packs and these cards are now filtering their way onto the internet. While I'm not going to discuss the leaks in depth here you can find them over on the main Magic Reddit, however I did want to mention one cycle that showed up in the leaks: the ally fastlands which were first printed in Scars of Mirrodin. Right now the cycle of Blackcleave Cliffs, Seachrome Coast, Darkslick Shores, Razorverge Thicket, and Copperline Gorge range from just over $4 (with Razorverge Thicket being the cheapest) to over $17 (for Blackcleave Cliffs). You might assume that this reprinting will drop the price of the cycle and that you should be looking to sell your copies now before Phyrexia releases, but I'm not sure that is true. This reprinting will release the ally fastlands into Pioneer for the first time, and considering that the Kaladesh enemy fastlands are among the most popular dual lands in the format and, discounting Concealed Courtyard which has been reprints in some precons, all cost at least $7, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the cheaper fastlands actually increase in price thanks to new Pioneer demand. Some two-color Pioneer decks have resorted to playing things like Mana Confluence just because there aren't enough good dual lands. The ally fastlands should mostly solve this problem. My guess is that we'll see the most expensive ally fastlands - Blackcleave Cliffs and Seachrome Coast - drop in price thanks to the Phyrexia reprinting, while the cheaper members of the cycle should mostly be stable and could even tick up a bit thanks to new Pioneer demand.
In other news, Drannith Magistrate is on the rise, ticking up 23% this week to over $14. There had been some debate in the community over whether the card should be banned in Commander thanks to its ability to keep players from playing their commanders as long as it is on the battlefield, but recently some of the Commander RC members have seemingly come out against banning the two-drop, which might be the reason for the recent price increase. Players may have been holding off on picking up their copies in fear of it getting banned, but with that seemingly less and less likely, they are now picking up copies to use in their decks. If you need a copy or two you might as well snag them now. It seems likely that Drannith Magistrate will keep slowly climbing in price until it's eventually reprinted.
Finally this week the Jumpstart 2022 rare Benevolent Hydra more than doubled in price to nearly $22. The Hydra's ability to mimic the effect of Hardened Scales with a bunch of additional upsides like potentially being a massive creature makes it an easy inclusion in pretty much any Commander deck built around +1/+1 counters. The smart move is probably to wait to pick up your copies. Jumpstart 2022 is only a month old and if it is anything like the first Jumpstart, it will be on store shelves for a long, long time. While early EDHRec data suggests it is one of the most popular cards from the set, the price should drop as more supply hits the market in the coming weeks and months.
