This week in the world of finance, our bigger winner comes from Monday's Banned and Restricted announcement, with Oath of Nissa — newly unbanned in Pioneer — tripling up from $2 to $6. Before it was banned last fall, the enchantment saw heavy play in both Devotion strategies and Kethis Combo, although even during its peak last October, it never broke $6. While there is certainly demand, once the initial hype of the unbanning wears off, it's likely to start trending back down. If you have extras, it's probably worth selling now into the hype.
Otherwise, Core Set 2021 is still having an impact on Commander prices with both Qasali Slingers and Honden of Cleansing Fire doubling in price this week to $5 and $2.50 respectively. Cats are one of the most popular tribes and considering they get new tribe members seemingly every set, other cheap, staple Cats might be worth picking up. Assuming they don't get reprinted, they are likely to slowly continue to increase in price as more Commander players build Cats decks. Meanwhile, most of the Champions of Kamigawa Shrines have already more than doubled in price as players build Sanctum of All decks featuring the new Core Set 2021 Shrines. While they aren't super expensive, they are expensive enough to make it worth sorting it out from your bulk to sell or trade away if you have some extras around.
Finally this week, there has been a huge discussion over Double Masters VIP boosters, which are selling for around $100 each. While $100 is unheard for a single booster pack, VIP boosters are also the only way to get foil copies of the Double Masters showcase cards. While we will know more this week as the set is spoiled, so far five showcase cards have been previewed — Doubling Season, Blightsteel Colossus, Atraxa, Praetors' Voice, Kaalia of the Vast and Mana Crypt —- and the average price of their non-foil printing is currently well above $100, which makes getting two foil versions from a $100 booster seem like a steal. If the other 35 showcase cards are of the same quality, the expected value of a Double Masters VIP booster is likely to be quite high, despite the massive price tag.
